Movavi Screen Capture Studio can record video or take shots directly from your computer screen, which makes it a great solution for grabbing gameplays, streaming videos and tutorial sessions. It has a very nice interface, which is at the same time very easy to use by even inexpert people.
Luckily, the tool lets you specify the boundaries of the region you are willing to capture. It is also good that, along with the visual input, the program can also record sound either from your computer’s sound card or from a microphone. Depending on the resources available for the task, you can predefine a specific frame rate to maximize quality or save storage space. Another feature that certainly deserves mentioning is the scheduler, which lets you set a recording duration and leave the computer unattended.
After a recording has finished, it is a great idea to use the built-in video editor to give it some touches. Luckily, the editor is astonishing. It allows importing data from media files, recording from a camera or grabbing a screencast. The imported video objects can then be placed on a timeline. Moreover, you can trim, split, crop or rotate them to create the desired composition. Similarly, you can add transitions and even record a voice narration. I was really impressed by the available effects, which include zooming, panning, callouts, titles and filters. When you have finished editing, you can pick the desired output format, and it is good to know that it supports a wide range of video codecs. In case you never know what format to use, the program gives you a hand by grouping presets according to the supporting devices or intended purposes.
All in all, Movavi Screen Capture Studio works just as described by its developers. If you use it wisely, you can surely produce good quality video with a minimum use of disk space. Most of the limitations of this program are not related to recording video but still images. In this respect, it lags behind other applications specifically intended for taking screenshots. The product is free to try but it certainly has serious limitations in terms of the recording time, which is restricted to two minutes only.
